I heard a bit of that interview in the car,but I left it when I got home, just as he was talking about Matt Monroe and my favourite of Big Matt's,Walk Away. Don Black is a great lyricist and raconteur.

Wasn't Don Black also responsible for ...

he has a powerful weapon
he charges a million a shot

... they don't write 'em like that any more.

Matt encouraged Don Black to write a song and he came up with Walk Away which was his first composition. Two exceptional talents.

As an aside does anyone else find Michael Ball's constant laughing an irritation. I do wish he'd stop.
