Having just witnessed a Cancer Research tv commercial using a much-used theme from The Mission (1986) and Morricone's beautiful score I invite other members to recall the use of music from British films in other applications, apart from their original airing through a cinema release. I recall Gabriel's Oboe - again from The Mission - turning up on a BBC 'Grandstand' build-up for a broadcast of the Grand National once....in addition, was my favourite British film, The Elephant Man, the first film to use Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber?

Not sure if this is exactly what you're asking but has anyone ever noticed the very close similarity of the main themes of Dunkirk, The Heroes of Telemark and The Inn of the Sixth Happiness? All of which are credited to Malcolm Arnold

I am glad someone else has noticed that about Malcolm Arnold's music. Not that I am complaining. The Arnold sound is also very evident in "Battle In The Air" from the Battle of Britain, even though that was written by William Walton.
