The one downside to the restored version Orson Welles' TOUCH OF EVIL that Universal issued around ten years ago is that Mancini's marvelous main title music was cut. It wasn't even offered as an "extra" on the dvd that was issued soon after. What an oversight!

I never could figure why Mancini's score to Alfred Hitchcock's FRENZY was rejected. The main title which was ultimately recorded suggests it might have been a very effective "thriller" score, perhaps not in Bernard Herrmann's class, but at least as good as the Ron Goodwin score which replaced it.
