Can anyone answer the following regarding this 1960's SciFi movie please?

1. What is the title of the theme music & is it available on CD or vinyl?

2. The heathland where the alien object landed, does anyone know its location?

3. Ditto 2, the army base.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Over on IMDB the theme music is specifically identified as a piece called "Image".

No filming location are recorded though.

Wasn't that a Shepperton film IIRC ?

Possibility for the locale might then be Chobham Common. I seem to recall there is a REME base nearby...

Thanks for the info. regarding theme music. I used to work at the MOD site near Chobham Common & was wondering myself if the opening sequences were filmed there but the army base in the film did not appear to be the same site.

Watched this film a week or so ago and the "crash" site looked like either Caesars Camp, Aldershot or possibly the Long Valley Training area again near Aldershot.....probably not though would they have had the budget to travel that far Rather a good film though, with the always excellent Alfred Burke and a nice cameo by Aubrey Morris as the mucky bookshop owner.

NIGHT CALLER theme is IMAGE(S ?) played by Alan Haven (organ, with orchestra), which was on a Philips 45rpm and his LP 'Images'......Folks may recall he also played on the John Barry theme for THE KNACK....

Alan Haven also provided the music to the 1964 film A Jolly Bad Fellow starring Leo McKern & Janet Munro

This CD looks like a DDD re-recording of IMAGE - so it may not sound like 1965 mono version with orchestra (on Philips 45rpm) . Not available anyway !
See:

Hi I think I can help you re: the theme: Look Up IMDB type in the Film title then go to message board. The actual title to the theme is called 'Image' by Alan Haven available as a single (1967) on Fontana. Also released as an Lp by the same title if you go to NETSOUNDS you can search for either. I have the (Stereo) Lp it's very spooky and regarded as a Northern Soul rarity!
Good Luck.
Best.
Bryan.

Just to warn everybody, the region 1 DVD of THE NIGHT CALLER does NOT have 'Image' as it's theme tune. Instead there's a strangely old-fashioned, fifties sort of song, called The Night Caller. I WAS hoping to finally hear the theme tune digitally, but was disappointed. I love the 'Image' theme and would (almost) kill for the whole soundtrack, though I don't think Alan Haven submitted the rest of the score. As memory serves, three names are listed as the composers of 'Image'. I have an alternate performance of 'Imafe' on a 'lounge classics' CD, but it's a cover version and not the Night Caller version.

THE NIGHT CALLER is a favourite film of mine, and I've written more about it here on my blog...

Just checked it out - and this album only contains an inferior cover version of the title track, albeit recorded by the composer himself.

Re: "The Night Caller"

I hope this posting will clear things up once and for all.

Yes-The American (DVD) restored title contains only the very dire supper lounge type of cheesy vocalist SINGING 'The Night Caller' track, However, if you source a UK screening (VHS) off air copy; you will hear "Image" an instrumental organ track released in (1965) and (1967) as a (mono) 45 r.p.m. single on the fontana label. The LP also by Alan Haven called "IMAGES" has again the title track (1967 release) in (Mono) as well as a (Stereo) copy released. Look on Netsounds under Alan Haven! It is the 100% ORIGINAL score as heard in the UK print: spooky organ played over the opening tracking shot of the Thames in mid-sixties London-a very 'mod' track!
Anyone deperate for a copy msg me!
