Wow Sgt.
Fashions were as groovy as the music in those days.
Very smart compared to the great unwashed at todays festivals!

I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!

Not even is it a matter of taste, perhaps the skill of the composer and orchestrater to create a sound picture. Mention the words 'Film Soundtrack' and a tune immediately flashes into one's mind. For me, scanning the forum and seeing this thread, The Big Country was there before I could reflect. So this is my nomination.
I totally agree, Jerome Moross' score for this film is magnificent. Look beyond the well known theme tune and discover some terrific film music.

Why don't we talk in the crypt?

I agree too re The Big Country. Great all-round score. I have the old UK vinyl release on London and it still gets played today.

Moross's score to The War Lord is another gem.

Agreed - I watched that film just a couple of nights ago.

Being a lover of piano music in all its forms, I love the soundtrack of The Eddy Duchin Story.

Another firm favourite is High Society. Satchmo, Sinatra, Crosby - what more could you ask? (Not a Crosby fan, but he excelled in that company.)

Dankworth's scores to Modesty Blaise and Fathom are things of beauty (as are the album sleeves). I also like his creepy music to 10 Rillington Place.

My favorite soundtrack is the soundtrack of "Phantom of the Opera" (the CD is great!) and "Lord of the Rings".
I also like the theme music of "The Magnificient Seven" and "The Great Escape".

My favourite soundtrack is Up The Junction by Manfred Mann but then again Up The Junction is my all time favourite film. Closely followed by Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush, Blow Up, Catch Us If You Can and Goodbye Gemini.

Some great choices there Joe. It took me ages to find the vinyl soundtrack to Goodbye Gemini (on Dick James's DJM label no less). The CD of it was reissued by Harkit a few years back. Genuinely weird film too.

You'd like the score Sgt. The title song is by Jackie Lee, and it also features the Peddlers ("Tell The World We're Not In"), Peter Lee Stirling, and some great funky Chris Gunning instrumentals.
