O.k , Now this is driving me mad.

There was a sitcom (British,of course) of the early 80's which began witha theme tune...

"You win some, You lose some, You keep on smiling through the blues some. Every day's another day of your life" sung (possibly) by the Beverley sisters.

Initially, I thought that it was Chance in a million but since getting my hands on the series, I realise that it isn't.

Surely someone should know!!??

I'm going mad, MAD, I tell you!!

While I'm at it , there was another early 80's friday night- 9 o'clock - comedy which featured 2 east end criminals who had stolen some safety deposit boxes and dealt with the consequences of each box, each episode.

This theme tune was sung by Alan Price and went ..."It's tough at the top but rougher at the bottom and positively boring in-between"

Can anyone help help....? tell me you can...please .....!!??

Turtle's Progress!

Of course! (Where's the tough at the top.... lyric?...did I make that up? no...because then you wouldn't have been able to......hmmm...)
....no disregard that, I've just seen it

I was lucky enough to get the entire series of Big Deal recently and as a result am a little Robby Box-ed out.

That theme goes " It's no big deal to take a chance against the odds.." and sung by the guy from Bucks Fizz who didn't have an accident.

Thanks anyway Penfold

It wasn't a sitcom it was a light hearted drama series, many say it was the forerunner to Minder!

Sorry to drag up this old thread, but I've been searching for details of this show for years. The tune "You win some, you lose some, keep on smiling through the bluesome" lurks in the back of my mind, and every now and again pops to the surface.
It has done so again today , so i thought i'd try my search engine for the tune and not the show title which I believe was simply called "Tales from the East End" - but i'm not entirely sure, as i can't find any info at all on this title.
Anyway my search led me to this forum.

I'm pretty sure it was screened by Thames TV in early 1981 for a few weeks in the 8:00PM til 9:00PM timeslot, and starred Ray Brooks. It was a light hearted drama series as opposed to a comedy. I also remember he(Ray) seemed to talk to the the camera a lot, but anything else about the show has long gone from my memory.

The reason i remember this show is that it co-incided with my first ever trip to London, when i was just a schoolkid. At that time I freaked out about anything to do with London, and the series started shortly after my visit. I think i watched every episode - probably 1 of very few people, and if it wasn't for my trip to London I probably would'nt have bothered with it either. I guess the show was a flop because i don't remember the series getting a 2nd run despite me looking out for it, for a year or so after S1 finished. The lack of info, and any recollection about it from people i know, also points to this show being a long forgotten turkey.
