That track (Mitch and Andy) is supposed to be a tribute to the Tom Waits song Frank's Wild Years from the Swordfishtrombones album. "Never could stand that dog"!

And Mr Waits is still bringing out wonderful albums after nearly 40 years in the business.

Cheers Nick. The CD was in the car, otherwise I would have looked it up before posting.

So Tom Waits is another musician I'll have to track down. An author friend of mine, did recommend Waits only the other day. Small world, eh?

I'd make a start with Closing Time, his first album from 1973. His voice hadn't taken on the gruff "drunken" characteristics of much of his later work. Another favourite of mine is the soundtrack to the Francis Ford Coppola musical, One From the Heart, featuring some duets with Crystal Gayle.
The more recent albums include some more "challenging" works - he certainly doesn't act his age.
But he always provides you with a vivid picture in his lyrics - the Eyeball Kid, and Chocolate Jesus.

Going back a bit .... I think that Bacharach's The Look of Love from the 60s CR is good enough to have been a 'proper' Bond song ....

Yes, indeed...it's SO sexy.

In fact, Bacharach's score was the ONLY good thing about the film.

Heard something of a rarity on the radio today, Pulp's Tomorrow Never Dies. Apparently it was (understandably) rejected by EON. Pulp composed more lush songs towards the end of their time together but this was never a Bond theme.

Isn't that one actually called Tomorrow Never Lies? That was going to be the title of the film (or so the legend goes) until someone mistyped Lies and Dies and everyone liked that better.

Has anyone heard Alice Cooper's rejected "Man With The Golden Gun" theme song? It's actually nowhere near as dreadful as I was expecting - although there is a weird bit in the middle which sounds like the theme from "The Munsters"!
