Film legend Ennio Morricone to play London

"Once Upon A Time In America", "The Good, the Bad & The Ugly (now used as Metallica's walk-on music) and Robert De Niro's Oscar winning "The Mission" and the intimate "Cinema Paradiso" are all likely to get an airing at the concert, scheduled for July 19 at London's Hammersmith Apollo. The show is the first British concert Morricone will perform since a night at London's Royal Albert Hall on November 10th 2003 wowed the capital, and accompanying the composer will be Hungary's Gyor Philharmonic Orchestra and the Crouch End Choir featuring soloists Susanna Rigacci (soprano) and Gilda Butta' (piano). Some of the classic compositions performed on the night will include material taken from Morriconne's live Warners Records album, "Arena Concerto", recorded in Verona, Napoli, Rome and Siviglia, which includes the following works: This rare concert is part of this year's 'Don't Look Back' concert series, which gives artists the chance to perform retrospectives of their work in its entirety.l[/url] A very rare live appearance by the film score maestro. Wow I'd give my eye teeth to see and hear the man in person. I have to mention Terrence Malick's Days Of Heaven, one of the most hauntingly beautiful movies ever made and also made more so by the music of Ennio Morricone.
