I'd be eternally grateful for that list please. Or even just the number for Petula Clark's Made In Heaven.

Hmm how strange that CBC Canada have the only set.

Well, the listing is a lot more extensive now, but no sign of Pet's 'Made In Heaven'

Maybe I'll try emailing CBC Canada...

Because it was enourmous and not really usable for broadcasters so they junked most of it.
Except the CBC, thanks to the late Tony Thomas.

The Huntley/Manvell listing is not complete... a few dozen still missing.
I do not know if Tony Thomas ever compiled a full list.

You might try David Ades of the Farnon Society... Robert Farnon Society

Yes I guess that's why. The BBC don't really have a record library anymore to speak of, so I guess those would go too. Surely Rank's archives owned by Granada should have a set though. Hmmm.

Do you know any way to get in touch with this Tony Thomas?

I will ask David Ades.

Tony Thomas died several years ago...

Rank has nothing of course.

Ah shame.

David is going to put an ad in the next RFS magazine, which may help.

Have been collating the Rank series of 78's - and have compiled a listing (incomplete). If anyone wants a copy, just let me know.

I am interested in British Film Music and would very much appreciate a copy of your list when convenient.

Default Rank Film Music 78s

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Brief Encounter music was, of course, Rachmaninov's 2nd Concerto in which the soloist was Eileen Joyce. Her performance of the complete concerto has been re-issued on CD.
Eileen Joyce was also the soloist in Sir Arthur Bliss' "Baraza" from the film "Man of Two Worlds." This was issued on 78s (I heard it at the British Sound Library when it was located in S. Kensington and all you had to do was ring a door-bell and book an appointment an hour or so in advance!) but don't think it has ever been re-issued

MEN OF TWO WORLDS (1946) with Eileen Joyce is available on a Pearl CD British Film Music - Volume I; it's my favorite track on this extraordinary release which includes the early 78 recordings of THE RED SHOES, SCOTT OF THE ANTARCTIC, OLIVER TWIST, NICHOLAS NICKLEBY and WHILE I LIVE.
