This web site does list it although they say it's out of stock.

But it does seem to exist

I've got a two-score CD of Lewis' (The Man Who Haunted Himself and '92 In The Shade) and it's got one of the best pieces of film music I've ever heard.

The cue Key West Sunset from the latter is a rip-roaring acoustic guitar piece...if it doesn't get your toes tapping, you need to check your pulse 'cos you may be dead.

I have the 1973 UK United Artists single by Michael J Lewis which groups the Theatre Of Blood Theme with Edwina's Theme.

The latter is actually the Dr Kildare style music played during Arthur Lowe's demise.

Michael J Lewis released a double CD some years ago containing re-recorded music from his various scores. I think there were about 5 cues from Theatre of Blood. These were faithful to the originals and conducted my Michael. The set was released on Michael's own label (Pen Dinas) and was available through specialist soundtrack dealers in Britain. I think it is now quite difficult to obtain but you may be able to buy it direct from Michael's website - Blue Diamond Music.

A little later Michael then released many of his scores as limited run Promotional issues. These were very basic - devoid of any notes or motion picture artwork (presumably to keep costs as low as possible), and again were available in Britain through specialist dealers. Theatre of Blood was available in very limited quantities.

La La Land records have recently released the first commercially available CD of Theatre of Blood, with full artwork and improved sound compared to the promo issue. It is a limited edition release but is I believe still available.

I think Michael is a very underrated composer. His music is superb and it is a pity that he did not get the opportunity to score more high-profile films. Very few of his scores have received a commercial soundtrack release (I think only Madwoman of Chaillot on LP, and now Theatre of Blood on CD), and I suspect that the reason is that the films on the whole did not perform well at the box office, so investment in issuing a soundtrack album was a financial non-starter.

I have spoken to Michael several times on the telehone and also met him at a concert of Welsh music that he was conducting at a small church in Aberystwyth in Wales, his birthplace, some years ago. He is a very nice man indeed, very approachable, and is always thrilled to talk to someone who appreciates his music.

I have that double CD and it is frequently in the player. I particularly love Michael's scores for Theatre of Blood and The Medusa Touch.

Yes these are great scores. My other favourites are The Man Who Haunted Himself and The Legacy. Sadly, neither of these are represented on the double CD. However, Michael released the former as a promo (which I have). Apparently the tapes for The Legacy are lost, but a CD appeared for sale never-the-less as an apparently unofficial release from a certain outlet who are no longer trading. How this came about is a mystery, and probably the less said the better. It does however perhaps indicate that there may yet be a chance of an official release at some point. This is a score with some delightfully melodic themes (a trademark of Michael's scores) and a lovely song (sung by Kiki Dee) composed by Michael (I cannot recall who wrote the lyrics). It really does deserve to be on CD.
