Default CD/LP of 'Private Life of Sherlock Holmes
It's nearly two in the morning and I've just been outbid on ebay for the rare soundtrack to 'The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes'(1970) on CD...if any of you have access to a copy of Rozsa's lush score please could you get in touch with me as I'd like to trade/buy it/etc. Best wishes and goodnight!

Priced at $10.39
I have ordered several DVDs via this firm and it is wholly reliable.

I have 'Serenade for Violin & Orchestra', Op 24, that is used in the film, and I must say they mucked about with the music in the film - they used bits of it here and there so it is not quite the same on the CD - but beautiful all the same. Intense music from an intense man.

The label is KOCH INTERNATIONAL CLASSICS, 3-7379-2-H1, Ivor Gruppman, Violin.
There is also on the CD 'Concerto for String Orchestra' Op. 17; and Andante for Strings, Op 22a. :

A complete re-recording of THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES will be available from April. The label is Tadlow Music and it will cost about 15 quid. I'd wait. ;)

Your ebay thingie was a bootleg anyway.

I have my copy. It arrived last week. Truly beautiful score.

'Ben Hur' may be Rozsa's masterwork (and one of the greatest movie scores ever written)... but I prefer this score to 'The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes'.

The Region 1 dvd of this excellent film is available from playusa.com at £12.99 delivered. I bought it last year and it is a fine transfer and includes, as extras, a couple of the scenes deleted from the original version which was some 3 hours long
