I've discovered that the song that I was referring to is -
"Blue Mist" - by Sam "The Man" Taylor - recorded 1955
I wonder, does anyone know the name of the slow jazz music track (and artist) that was playing when Alison Steadman was dancing close with one of her guest's husband?

I caught a bit of this when it was shown the other night. It's regarded as something of a classic I gather.......... All I could think, while I listened to Alison Steadman was, ".... and people say Patrick McGoohan does some strange accents?......"

I found it very uncomfortable viewing and although I had seen it before, I had to switch off before the end.

Is it her accent, or just the convoluted phrases she uses to try to sound posh?
