I posted this some time back, but I believe it got lost with other posts when the site changed servers or something!
Does anyone know the name of the song that the choir sing as the theme to this film (The Bridal Path with Bill Travers) please?
Sounds like some sort of Gaelic folksong - and as if it is probably a well-known one ... I would love to know the title, and perhaps some more about it.

The song is called "Brochan Lom" and it means 'thin porridge' in Gaelic.

Hello folks, I've just joined and noticed this question .....thought I might be able to give you further direction.

I remember watching this film on telly with my parents back in the early 70's and this choir or 'mouth music' song stuck in my head all these years. I recently drove down the the Outer Hebrides and this track was among a selection I had on my iPod .... a magical experience combined with the right music!

I understand the original choir in the film soundtrack was done by 'The Campbeltown Gaelic Choir' and conducted by Muir Mathieson all those years ago. I couldn't find the original but a virtually identical version to that in the film was done by the 'Glasgow Gaelic Choir ' which was conducted by Kenneth Thomson with soloists Morag MacKay, Alastair Gillies, Rhona MacKay and Kirsteen Grant on the album 'Orain Is Puirt-a-Beul' (A Centenary Collection) by The Glasgow Gaelic Musical Association.

The sample tracks can be listened to individually before purchasing and can be downloaded at the iTunes online store at the following link ....the track you are looking for is called 'Puirt-A-Beul':Brochan Lom/Bodachan a Mhirein
