Have just come across the new laurie johnson box set and the avengers music is great.Did not know anything about this release.Lets hope he gets his finger out and releases the rest of the music from the thorson years....

His score for AND SOON THE DARKNESS is brillaint. The funky theme-tune, giving way to the atmospheric music, is quite the turnaround.

It's a shame that the original cuts of The New Avengers and The Professionals are not in the box set, only inferior re-recordings which have appeared on compilations before. The Avengers material on disc one is stunning and worth the price of the set on its own.

Quite true ,I would have paid double just for disc 1.Lets hope mores on the way....

Is it the same as the film soundtrack/ the TOP RANK single from 1959 (which differs)/later re-recording ?

Absolutely. This is a superb value for money 3 CD set. At under £7 it was a steal!
