No song for Octopussy??

As fine a song as "All Time High" surely is, I often wonder why the guys didn't rise to the challenge of including the film title in the song. I mean, after all the camp inuendo-laden lines of previous efforts: "He has a powerful weapon" anybody?



Maybe they were just flummoxed by the directness of it. I thought I'd try my own though:

Octopussy, Octopussy, Octopussy...

One for each day of the week - and one to spare

Fashionably upholstered with 80's power-hair.



She's got no use for a man who is wussy

Eight times a woman - Octopussy!

Oh well maybe not. Anybody do better? Or have any strong feelings on Bond songs in general?

Apparently a song was written called 'Octopussy' but they had so much trouble getting the actual title of the film approved in the US that they decided to abandon it.



Cubby Broccolli once said that 'All Time High' was one of his favourite Bond songs and that it was, at one time, the most requested song on AM radio in the US.

My brother convinced me at the time that they were going to rework one of the Beatles' hits - Octopussy's Garden.

Is it not that 'Octopussy' is just too difficult to work as part of a lyric? Apparently, Barry and lyricist tried to make a theme song of 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', before opting for an instrumental only.
