    Hi

Does anyone know if the score to the 1973 Badlands is available. IMDB lists George Tipton with the origional score, but much of it sounds like Carl Orff's Carmina Burana or influenced by it and I can't find an album. Any info most welcome. Thanks

Can't help you there. But I do know Pete Wylie (Wah/Wah Heat) wrote his own theme song for Badlands titled "The Power Of Love'. Springstten also has a Starkweather song on "Nebraska".

I'm pretty sure Carl Orff's music was used.

The original music for the film was written by George Tipton.

It's all that exotic-sounding percussion stuff during the montages that's Orff. I don't recall much of the other music.

IIRC Tipton's pieces are fairly sparse string themes.

IMDB has some replies about the soundtrack, insisting that the xylophone/marimba piece was written by Carl Orff and called Gassenhauer. You can listen to a sample of it here:

But there's no sign of the complete soundtrack.

Try the soundtrack to True Romance (Tarrantino showing his influences again) it features the same piece by Hans Zimmer. That's how I got hold of a copy (ahem, cough, splutter, etc etc...)
