The album was originally released by EMI but was deleted many years ago.

The title track was resurrected after its use as the theme tune from Van Der Valk. There are a few copies of the vinyl single knocking around on that well known auction site.

It might be worth you attending a few record fairs or visiting some of the collector websites or Music Stack but they're not cheap

    Hope you're lucky

PM me if you need any links?

Chevy just said that - and there's several on Amazon as well. I'm almost positive I've got one somewhere!

But, alas, no CDs or cassettes.

You can download a lot of the songs off itunes (if you have an ipod).

For "Crown Court" you could get hold of a copy of Janacek's Sinfonieta, from which it is taken.

Does anyone remember Matt Monros vocal version of Eye Level. called something like."Then You Smiled." I heard it being played on RTE radio. Iwould recommend RTE radio to all your music buffs out there. The breakfast progamme introduced by Maxie is one of the most eclectic shows on radio. A good place to sample new Irish music. Only trouble is its on from 5.30 to 7oo in the morning., my wife and I are early risers as we commute to Cardiff evert day.

I fondly remember these two superb themes to Van Der Valk and Crown Court

    Simon Park Orchestra:

Eye Level: Van Der Valk theme - title intro:

Hmmm - I seem to remember a different Crown Court theme than that one. A more brassy number - in fact, I think it was just brass - no other accompaniment. Playing at really close intervals. I'm probably getting confuzzled as usual. but if there really were two themes, I think the one I recall would be the later one.

The theme that you are referring to was featured at the start of each episode the other theme which was the b side of Eye Level was always played over the closing credits.

Haven't heard the Van der Valk theme for many a year.

The first thing that struck me was hearing a TV theme tune performed by a forty piece orchestra !

These days, unless you're George Fenton and "lucky" to have the salaried BBC Concert Orch at your disposal, the budget barely allows for anything beyond what could be written and recorded on a laptop.

I quite agree with you Freddie. I bought one of Michel Bubles albums and it was nice to hear orchestral acompaniment instead of synths.

A couple of years back I bought a Julie Andrews cd on a budget label the production values were very poor and the whole thing sounded as if itwas made on a shoestring.

The arrangment of Eye Level by Simon Park Orch was exciting from start to finish.

I have the 45 rpm single of And You Smiled by Matt Monro, released on EMI 2091 in October, 1973. It's a lovely song and goes well as a companion to my Eye Level single. Unlike Eye Level, though, which was a big chart hit, And You Smiled never got anywhere and is hard to find these days. I bought my copy in 1973 when it was first released and when it was on the radio a lot.
