    Whilst I was listening to Classic FM yesterday afternoon, The station played a request for the theme tune of the early children's TV series called Robinson Crusoe. Brought back many happy childhood memories.

    I also remember that theme tune........it seemed to be so loud and strident, probably German

    The soundtrack is available on CD. And by the way, it was written by Robert Mellin, who came from darkest Surrey.

    It was, of course, a French-German co-production. The score you know was written especially for the British dubbed version. So my childhood memory differs from yours. The original music - without such a nice clip accompanying it, unfortunately - you find here:

    The French composer, George Van Parys, also wrote the score for Les Diaboliques.
