I see that we are also being treated to a screening of Titanic. Not the Cameron nonsense but the Clifton Webb, Barbara Stanwyck version from 1953. Not as good as A Night to Remember but a lot better than the Cameron fiasco
Titanic (1953)
TMC (UK) Sun 12 August 09:15
Also showing on 8 Sept at 17:05 and 9 Sept at 08:55

The trouble with statistics of any sort is that they can be manipulated to say whatever you want. How is it that if 51 million people (90% of Population) watched the Olympics, the highest viewing figure was 27 million, and that was for the opening ceremony. Over the course of 17 days, it would have been difficult not to have caught 15 minutes of the Olympic games on TV.
I remember Kelvin Mackenzie, when he ran Talksport radio, had some gizmos made that recorded all of the Radio that people were exposed to. Thus anyone who heard talksport when visiting the petrol station etc was regarded as a Talksport listener. His ideas were soon dismissed. I don't really believe that it is possible to have accurate viewing figures or opinion polls. We have such a large population in Britain, that any sample is pretty worthless really.
i am sure that like me the majority of british viewers were not enthralled by having BBC programmes and news swamped with sports they wouldnt go across the road to see.the cover of Private Eye says it exactly/ .There are 6 spoofs of the olympics eg Cameron to Putin "who are you supporting" Putin "Assad".Then at the bottom Fiona Bruce is shown saying "and finally aliens invaded earth today"Thats the point exactly.
If anyone missed 'The man who haunted himself' as I did, may be pleased to know it's being shown tomorrow Sunday the 19th at 12pm (midday) on the Horror channel.
