Not the foggiest then. That's John Horsley I think, but I can't put a name to the other chap...but he was all over TV like a rash in those days....distinctive bass voice, similar to Nigel Davenport...

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

Not the Lotus Eaters or John Horsley. The chap with the 'tache is still working (saw him at the NT a couple of years ago). This series is the second of three versions of the same story.

Is it one of the Norman Conquests .... Round and Round the Garden?

Don't miss out on a chance to win a rare film in Bat-Quiz 13 closing date - 31/8/8.

Good call but I realise I've misled you. The same story was televised in the 19630, 1970s and 1990s. I'll see if I can get another screencap.

And I lied to Penfold - (or just went no-happy!) It is John Horsley, of course.

Though they are a relief from all the brown. Peter Barkworth is about to come in wearing a brown jacket and brown suede shoes and later he'll change into a brown dressing-gown (which means he's hardly visible against the decor).

Brown must have driven him to drink, as he heads for the drinks cabinet virtually every time he enters his flat Must say I enjoyed it though, more Barkers on DVD I say

Yes, I'd like to see the 1960s Melissa, if it survives as it looks as if the script is exactly the same (the fact that Melissa carries a hatbox around with her all the time is a key plot point which can't have been 100% convincing in 1974). And yes, you could do a great Drinking Game with Barkers but you'd be under the table halfway through episode 1.

I thought the Bleasdale version was OK and Jennifer Ehle looked ravishing!
