Just as American Graffiti kinda led to Happy Days with many of the cast in place and a similiar set up.

But then again, an early pilot of Happy Days influenced George Lucas in casting American Graffiti!

What goes around comes around...

All men leak.

Never. Think of the characterisations ...

Wiley, conniving, manipulative, prison-wise "Dodger" Lane (Peter Sellers) >> Norman Stanley Fletcher (Ronnie Barker)

Innocent, naive inmate Lennie Price (Bernard Cribbins) >> Lennie Godber (Richard Beckinsale) (character even has the same first name)

Strict, authoritarian chief warder Chief P.O. Crout (Lionel Jeffries) >> Mr Mackay (Fulton Mackay)

Bumbling, manipulatable, easy-going warder Chief P.O. Jenkins (George Woodbridge) >> Mr Barrowclough (Brian Wilde)

Dithering, indecisive The Governor (Maurice Denham) >> Governor Geoffrey Venables (Michael Barrington)

Too many similarities just to be a co-incidence ....

This is war Wilson, not Sainsburys!

"Alias Smith And Jones", very popular western TV series with Ben Murphey and Pete Duel standing in for Newman and Redford as the most likeable train robbers in the west, based on "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid" of course.
