I realised that he's too tall to be Neville Brand - he was only 5' 8"! He would not have been taller than The Duke.

Brannigan was a British film.

It's not Brannigan ... this is a 'wall of shame' US picture, relevent to the Mcarthy-ite banter earlier on this thread.

Actually the story of the snowman is very sad - this is the actual picture of Burl Ives offering him up to the House of Unamerican Activities. Before this the snowman made a very good living from starring in various Christmas films such as Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life, and even had a small part in Citizen Kane (in the sled scene you can just make him out in the background). But following his betrayal by Ives the parts dried up, he hit the bottle and in the end he just melted away.

His son took up the profession, but I think he retired when Aled Jones put on weight and was too heavy to fly!

Start every day with a smile and get it over with.

Who couldn't warm to that tender hearted liberal film. Why Stone, Kubrick et al had to try and rewrite history so hawkishly I'll never know

.... well done chaps!

It is Big Jim McLain .... it was actually on ITV4 a few weeks ago. Even if you ignore the politics it's still not a very good film. As for The Green Berets, they could have made a better job of it if they got Sid, Kenneth, Hattie and Charles to do it instead .... Carry On Saigon?
