So the connection is an obscure writer? Any chance of another clue?

I might have made this one too obscure

Big clue - was nominated for his work on a famous Kenny More film

Less prolific

Another clue - DB's connection with the writer went for twenty years

Writer = Richard Gordon, so OOO is David Niven as Donald Sinden & Dirk Bogarde both starred in Doctor in the House.

I don't think it's Gordon because he didn't work with Dirk for 20 years. Assuming the Kenny clue is about Oscars, the only person I can find is William 'Genevieve' Rose who did make a couple of films with Dirk but not 20 years apart.

Is the connection someone any of us is likely to have heard of? *is suspicious*

Not an Oscar but your are looking very much in the right direction

No, on reflection this person was, could still be with us, not a public figure. Being a prolific reader (or used to be) some scribes are well known to me but are now forgotten.

That's the joke that killed the Music Hall

Or Ma'am as my close friends call me. Good grief - that was a stinker. I've never heard of Mr Estridge but he's got some good credits to his name.

I have an idea and will return with something rather less obscure.
