Thought I'd post another of my pub games.

This one is a little more intelligent than the Muff Songs game (actually, it's a LOT more intelligent!).

The idea is to give a cryptic crossword style clue to any movie name and the rest of us have to guess it.

If you guess the movie, you supply the next clue.

    As an Example:

Attacked from the rear by Movie Magazine

    would be

    The Empire Strikes Back.

    Got it? OK, I'll strat:

    Spanish Presidential Residence?

I suppose there are some similarities (as in you have to think) but hardly the same game really Sir Olly. just the same rules and far less Googling.

I will indeed join in Capt. but the games are so well established that it's taking me a while to read through them to avoid repeating someone else's post.

I shouldn't worry about that - part of the fun is knowing that the same picture is somewhere in the previous 462 pages

I like this idea for a quiz, since I'm a bit of a (Telegraph) cryptic crossword fiend!

    Clue:

Lead with limb - roughly in-between

    Nope.

It requires a bit more thinking outside the box than your first example.

I'm a keen cruciverbalist too, but in crosswords you always know how many letters are in the answer. Would you be able to give us that as well Dave?

Yeah, I think I rather killed the thread with this one.

We're looking for a Hammer film.

    Captain Clegg it is!

There is a method to my madness:

    Lead is CAPTAIN

    Limb is LEG

Roughly is C (as in Circa) - put that in-between and you have CAPTAIN CLEG(G)

I didn't do the last G, as I was thinking more how it sounded than how it was spelt - until someone asked for the letters!
