Default The Bourne Ultimatum

Okay not a British film, but made over here by a British director - Paul Greengrass - and what an excellent film it is. Well paced, fantastic action scenes,a welcome lack of love interest,no excessive use of bad language,in fact couldn't fault it. A five star thumbs up from Marky B *****.

I have been trying to get to see this for days ..... I loved the first two and I think Greengrass brought a new vitality to the action movie with the second one, something not lost on a certain production company called EON.

Good to see the old master Albert Finney in a supporting role. He's made several films recently, and I thought he was excellent in A Good Year and Amazing Grace. Nice when the old-timers get to show the younger brigade how it should be done!!

Overall, I preferred the first two films in the series. I felt things were starting to get a bit repetitive.

I've not watched this one yet, but I do have a very good "Screener" copy from America, so I may find time this weekend to sit down and watch it.

Pretty much my thoughts when I watched it on DVD recently, the running about goes on rather too long for me.

And where, may I ask, did you get this DVD copy of the recent cinema release The Bourne Ultimatum?

Not from a dodgy e-bay seller I hope .

I too thought the presentation of the action sequences was excellent. I can accept that some audiences don't like action films to have much to do with romance, but for me the weakness of the film was the waste of acting talent and starpower in the shape of Julia Stiles and Joan Allen. A director with the talent of Greengrass could surely find them something more interesting to do, without losing the pace?

I don't know what to think about good actors 'being stuck' as action film support-characters. I give this series credit for keeping these people together - not every series can accomplish this. Hopefully, they're doing this for a good cut of the pie.

Not normally my type of film but watched a screener of it and thought it was superb. Didn't give you time to catch your breath. Also nice to see that Paddy Considine has moved on to parts in films like this.

I also enjoyed the first two films in the Bourne trilogy so I am looking forward to seeing the latest 'Ultimatum'.

The thing with these type of films is that you have to remain concentrated throughout the film otherwise you are liable to get confused with the complicated plot.
You can often hear the patrons as they leave the cinema asking each other "What really happened? I didn't understand the bit when he....."
Drop your popcorn and you've lost the storyline.

Dave.

We saw this last evening, thinking we'd be well away from the herd, but a Thursday 5:30 showing was still nicely crowded - not so much that we couldn't get our favorite seatings, and enough for good laughs and cheers, oohs and ahhs. I think the stunt work required more choreography than the other two, and it was well-done, too. It won't make fans from the series' non-fans, but I haven't seen any fan of the first two write complaints about this one.

Saw this last night and thought it was better than the second film. The level of comment, veiled or otherwise, about America's conduct in the so-called war on terror in new American films is quite remarkable. It's not too surprising to see it in a spy thriller like this, but even a piece of fluff like the Fantastic 4 sequel contains obvious references about the US army's use of torture.

It appears that the US press is covering the whole subject so badly that the entertainment industry is feeling the need to comment instead.
