I thought i would start a new Thread to see how many films & TV programmes Brit Movie Members can think of that have featured Castles, i know that Castles have featured prominently in Robin Hood films & TV Series and i can think of many more films featuring Castles including The Colditz Story (1955), Greyfriars Bobby The True Story Of A Dog (1961), The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes (1970), Dracula and Frankenstein films and also lots of Swashbuckler films, i can also think of many TV programmes featuring Castles including The Adventures Of Sir Lancelot, Ivanhoe, William Tell, Richard The Lionheart and Doctor Who, i am sure Brit Movie Members can think of many more films & TV programmes featuring Castles.

Ardverikie Castle, Near Aviemorewas used in the BBC TV series Monarch of the Glen

Eilean Donan Castle has featured in many films and TV shows, most notably Highlander and James Bond's The World Is Not Enough.







Lindisfarne Castle features in Roman Polanski’s film Macbeth







Parts of the cult comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, were filmed in and around Doune Castle

Alnwick Castle was also used in the filming of the 1971 film Mary, Queen of Scots starring Vanessa Redgrave and Glenda Jackson.



El Cid from 1961 which was largely filmed in Spain features the Castle of Peñíscola which is in the region of Castellón on the eastern Mediterranean coast.

The 1968 film The Lion in Winter used several Castles as locations such as Pembroke Castle in Wales and castles in France

Arundel Castle featured in the Doctor Who Story Silver Nemesis (1988), The Madness Of King George (1994), the TV Serial Victoria & Albert (2001) and The Young Victoria (2009).







The Madness Of King George also featured Broughton Castle and The Young Victoria also featured Belvoir Castle.

The 1978 Doctor Who story The Androids of Tara was filmed at Leeds Castle in Kent.

Additionally, Leeds Castle was used in the 1949 film Kind Hearts & Coronets.



Duart Castle in Mull, Argyll & Bute is used in the 1971 film When Eight Bells Toll
