Mr Pastry also has projection tackle for the sub standard film gauges and still gives weekly film shows since about 1973. Bloody ell where have those years gone... We had a nine five sound film evening this weekend and watched a British Lion six reeler which was fun. Nothing quite like setting up a screen, speakers, projector stand and a 1938 Vox nine five sound projector.

Great fun all the above but it helps if you are slightly mad as well.

There are still a lot of sub - standard 'nutters' around Mr Pastry Time. 8/9.5/17.5/28mm collectors who still keep the projectors turning. I had a Pathescope 9.5mm Vox but sadly the cheap gearing wore out and now use a converted 16mm Elf...see 9.5mm at it's best. Although I now take a Panasonic Digital Projector along to Village Hall lectures, I'm still often asked to take a real film projector, in order to bring back school day memories. Perry's movies still operate in a small way (Keith Perry now lives in majorca)...Derann and Clasic Home Cinema as well as Paul Foster films, continue to stay in business...selling 8 and 16mm films. A brilliant magazine issued bi monthly, to keep collectors in touch, called 'Projections' is obtainable, for a few pounds per year, from Pete travers...projections@hotmail.co.uk.
Although DVD has now taken over, giving incredible reproduction at a bargain price, 8mm and 9.5mm films are still giving pleasure to many...even if the only features came from E.J.Fancey productions and the short documentaries were made in the 30s...who cares!

I beg to differ. The exposed frame area of Super 8 is 23.22 sq.mm compared to Standard 8's 14.85 sq.mm. Over 50% larger!

The second YouTube clip in post #6 give a good illustration of the quality achievable.
