Having watched all seven episodes, I can confirm that the barge scene is not in the 1968 version. Perhaps I should double check the 1970 film next![]()
TV Premiere this evening

Radio Times:
YOUNG ADAM (2003, 18)
Drama starring Ewan McGregor, based on the novel by Scottish beat writer Alexander Trocchi.
In 1950s Glasgow, drifter Joe is employed as a barge hand on the canals while running from emotional commitment. Haunted by his past after fishing a drowned woman out of the water, he's thrown into an existential crisis which leads to a series of casual sexual encounters.
Did the ending of the final series of Between The Lines not involve Neil Pearson & Tom Georgeson trying to escape from an exploding barge.
I'm pretty sure some of the action takes place and possibly Jeremy Brett's home is on a barge in Girl in the Headlines (1963) - IMDb
This Series 5 episode of Last of The Summer Wine [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0626023/] features Robert Lang as The Commodore who entertains young ladies on his canal boat whilst also lending Foggy a flagpole.

I seem to recall a barge featured in the BBC Children's tv series "Break In the Sun".
Barges appeared in several episodes of the TV series The Last Detective (which starred Peter Davison as Detective Constable 'Dangerous' Davies).
A TV Times listing from September 27th 1967.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Beauty and the Barge with Gordon Harker and a young Jack Hawkins.
