There is a First Division (In old money.) match in Charlie Bubbles. It must be the Mancs against a London club from what I remember of it. I only saw it once and that was a long time ago.

It's Manchester United vs. Chelsea, Roger, at Old Trafford. The film was made between October and
December 1966 so this must be the match that took place on 15th October, which was a 1-1 draw:


Watched by Albert Finney (as Charlie), reporter/ex-friend John Ronane, and Timothy Garland (Charlie's son):

The reason Timothy looks so fed up is because he feels alienated from his father, who seems unwilling to share.

There's a football match in One of Our Aircraft is Missing (19420
The bomber crew bale out over the Netherlands and most of them are picked up by the Resistance.
One has gone missing and when the other airmen are taken to a local football match they find that their missing crewman is playing!
The character was a professional footballer before joining the RAF and he was played by Emrys Jones who was an international football player before the war. The character was made to be a footballer because he could already play well.
