Looks like Russell Brand's remake of Arthur is a stinker.
A rather scathing review in Rolling Stone...

I've just read that 80s action classic (cough) Red Dawn has been remade. But this time instead of Russians it is the Chinese who are invading America.
But the makers, MGM, have now decided to digitally alter the invaders into North Koreans, so as not to damage the now lucrative Chinese market.

What a shock that turned out badly. But an opportunity to see Garner befors she becomes dowdy Miss Marple.

Hilarious. A dumb idea made even dumber once the studio realised what a dumb idea they had on their hands.
The notion of the Chinese invading America is stupid enough: they're not going to invade the US; they're going to buy it.
But the notion of N Korea trying it is too stupid for words. MGM might as well have changed the invaders to Cuba. Or Camden Council.
Let's hope that the North Koreans in the film have been digitally rendered to look like the puppets from Team America: World Police. "Lonely, so lonely..."

I never trusted the Danes. I think they are going to invade.
I wonder what they think the significance is of having her watching Bill Holden in Born Yesterday? A sideways Peckinpah connection, whilst otherwise pissing all over him?
I think this looks so ordinary. And that's just a bit sad, really. For all its flaws, the original is a very interesting text.
Why bother?
Rod Lurie is a mediocre filmmaker. Before he started making movies, he was a film critic and had a local radio talk show on Saturdays and he slammed Peckinpah for the rape scene in Straw Dogs. It is incredible arrogance for someone as untalented as he is to think he can remake Straw Dogs. He was fired from that Geena Davis show because he sucks.
I'm going to get jumped on I know but I injoyed the remake of The Fog. It was very different to the fantastic original film. I like a lot of John Carpenters films.
