I'm amazed at how many people still haven't seen this film. Even the guy who gave me a copy of it on dvd which he'd rented out never watched it.

I have literally yet to meet just ONE other person who has seen that film. But I suspect things will be different here... those who have seen it - I was thinking, when the Iraq fiasco began and we started seeing all kinds of violence, how much like modern Iraq the vision of France in Godard's weekend is like.

Ever since then the name "Johnny Guitar" has been this sort of strange alias I've been planning to get ready to use in some dark and devilish and wide-ranging way.

If you haven't seen Weekend by Godard, I really think you should. Just because too few people have, and it's something far too brilliant to be lost and wasted like that.

I have seen Weekend a couple of times, once at the cinema and once on TV. It is interesting but very hit and miss IMHO. There are some scenes which are strikingly put together and are very funny and/or thought provoking. It's a film worth watching but it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

The only one person I've now ever encountered who has watched Weekend is batman. Figures.

Saw it in the cinema when first released and on television since, but I don't regard it as essential viewing.

Ah, is Godard still alive? Sounds like you should let him know. He's just not up to scratch, eh? I love the opening scene - well not the very opening, I mean the long cacophony scene. It's so anti-21st century if you ask me. It's pure unpublicrelations. And the idea, well I'd hate to spoil it, but I just love the dinner arrangements at the end. Gosta Berling, this is Johnny Guitar, and all that.

And the odd arty recitals in fields, those are so striking. Beauty is not in laminated products, modern films just don't compare to Weekend. Anyway, not everyone likes mint tea, but I love it. Same with Weekend. Nice that people have seen it, though. I was worried that the world would eventually become overrun with people who think Kylie Minogue makes music and Rupert Murdoch is a wordsmith.
