Quite a thought-provoking question and one I need to think about!
(Absolutely love Stevie though).
Anybody have a films or TV shows that they actually hated at first sight but perhaps
over time and another viewing have actually grown to like and even respect?
I recall Stevie which I first thought was boring, terrible and very claustophobic (breathing a sigh of relief at the infrequent times the film went outside the two or three room set).
However since then and time passing, the film brings me comfort and a joy to see Glenda Jackson and Mona Washbourne acting against each other.
Quite a thought-provoking question and one I need to think about!

I was thinking you wouldn't get many answers to this simply becasue logically, if a person *hated* something first time - why would they watch it again? However, I suppose a forum like this might be one place where you could expect to get a few replies. Those of us who like to follow one particular performer/creative and see everything they ever did, might reasonably be expected to come across things that the artist did, that didn't impress the fan much - the first time they saw it, but, being a keen fan they would still be motivated to give it another try at some later time.
Un genio, due compari, un pollo (1975) - IMDb would fall into a category where I liked it more the second time. The first time I watched it, it just seemed a bewildering mess. The second time I watched it, I realised that there are four or five movies jostling about in there and although short, each one has some strong points about it. Watched as if episodically, it became better the second time.
Love is....... watching it again........

I neither liked Roman Polanski's Repulsion nor Peter Brook's King Lear on the first screening, believe it or not! I have since rated both as classics and Repulsion is my second favourite thriller, only being beaten by Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, which I loved even first time around. Polanski's Dance Of The Vampires is my all-time favourite, and I loved that first time around too.

I like The Birds better than I used to, I suppose. And Maytime in Mayfair with Anna Neagle was a film which grew on me after my initial dislike of it.
I didn't like One Foot in the Grave, and gave up after the first episode. Just goes to show what I know.![]()
Since then I have allways given new series at least 2/3 episodes.![]()
