Sadly Ginger was wheelchair bound in later years as well, a sad fate for such a vivacious performer. Her last real professsional high was as 'Mame' on stage (following Angela Lansbury, I believe).

She appeared at the Palladium after that and couldn't sing or dance according to the crits but she was such a legend that it didn't matter.
