    Hi,
This could also be in British Theatre as well.

I noted with interest that two theatres in towns near where I live, have started to show films.

What does Britmovie members think of this. For instance, is it an unfair encroachment by live theatre venues on cinema venues? Is it because some cinemas are now shifting outside town centres? Does it even matter? Is it a trend for this up and down the country?

I think some interesting view points could be out there. So what are they?

Lots of interesting possibilities. Maybe theme weeks or "Sunday Night for One Night Only" just as long as the films they are showing aren't on the regular circuit or rammed down our throats every week on Sky. Theatres must be looking to put bums on seats however they can. If my local theatre had a decent Hammer season of rarely shown films I'd be there.

Yes, good point. Cinemas and theatres don't have to compete. If theatres screen titles that the circuit cinemas don't, it would be a good thing for films and viewers. Some of our theatres also screen operas (YAY!) and I'm all for it.
