Supernova was released in 2000, not 1990. 'Alan Smithee' was 'retired' for that film and replaced by the pseudonym 'Thomas Lee'. AFAIK no 'standard' name is used these days for such circumstances.
The following films credit "Smithee" with the actual director is listed when known:
from wikipedia
- Fade-In / Iron Cowboy (1968). Directed by Jud Taylor.
- Death of a Gunfighter (1969). Directed separately by Robert Totten and Don Siegel.
- City in Fear (1980). Directed by Jud Taylor.
- Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983). The Second Assistant Director credit for the first segment is credited to "Alan Smithee". This position is commonly involved in shooting action scenes, such as the one in which actor Vic Morrow was killed during production of this film.
