"Last wave" rings a bell in there somewheresome titals mentioned have brought back reccolections and some i've never heard of, one of my favorite films though is "Roadgames", watched it loads of times and you've also reminded me of "Razorback and survivor" two more to look out for, the other one i mentioned isn't "Wolfcreek" cracking film,
another film i vaugely remember is about some kid's (teenagers) who are somehow involved in a cinema, they either start one up or take one over and the only scene i remember is they start showing a Steve Reeves hurculese type film which is as ya know all rippling muscles, smoldering looks etc, anyway the sound goes and of course the audience starts up so the kids running start their own dialogue over the speakers by adding words to the actors on screen, this has the audience in stitches (and me as well) only one thats i clearly remember is Reeves kisses this woman and over the speakers comes "Jeez ya a top kisser"obvisiouly a comedy but cant remember anything else about the film or even where/when i saw it
the long weekend arrived, just waiting for the cars, why dont they post together? i ordered em together![]()
I'd recommend Newsfront starring the late great Bill Hunter, and Bryan Brown who seemed to be in almost as many Aussie movies as John Meillon.
Wake in Fright is a superb film. It is well worth a look. No, it doesn't paint a great picture of Australia but it is a powerful one. And true to all Aussie films it does have Chips Rafferty in the cast; it was his final role. However if you would simply like to check it out without committing yourself, the censored version which was released internationally under the title of Outback is available on YouTube. If after that you would like to see the beautiful restoration, then do get the DVD!
You can find more info on this film on my website highlighting its star, the late Gary Bond (www.thewonderfulworldofgarybond.com).
Barnaby and Me (tv; 1977)
Saw it once a long time ago, only remember a few scenes from it (unfortunately it was on the forgettable side) and even Sid Caesar admitted to having no recollection of making the movie or being in Australia for that matter as he had hit rock bottom with substance addiction.
