This past weekend, a dear friend (American) asked me if I had any favourite Dark/Black comedies, be they British, American, or whatever. I thought I'd pass the question along to the Britmovie community. Any suggestions folks ?

Kind Hearts and Coronets and Grosse Pointe Blank would be two that instantly come to mind.

Oh Yes, definitely. One of the earliest films I saw that scared me (as a kid) and made me laugh at the same time. I'm still a sucker for hands coming out of the bedhead and eyes moving behind portraits

My favourite quote from the film
Paulette Goddard to Bob Hope "Do big empty houses scare you"
Hope to Goddard "No I've been playing vaudeville for years".

Have another one. Hope started one film in a penthouse with lightning flashing and thunder crashing all round. Hope's comment. "Looks like Bela Lugosi's giving a party"
