How far should should programme makers go with Religion?

Many of the Powell and Pressburger films seem to have a link to faith and/or religion. A Matter of Life and Death has already been mentioned but also Black Narcissus and perhaps most tellingly A Canterbury Tale. Even The Edge of the World has a spiritual feel. Whether this was intentional in all cases I have no idea.

They made films about the big issues like life, love and death. Matters of faith are up there with those issues. Another film they made which has a very spiritual feel to it is Gone to Earth, although that's more involved with witchcraft as much as with modern religions

Muhammad himself is generally off limits, but so is Allah, God & Jesus. It's usually the religious people who are the target of humour, not what they worship. Just like in "Life of Brian"

Are there any films or TV shows where Zeus or any of the other ancient gods are taken as figures of fun?

I've not seen it for decades, so I'm probably misremembering, but didn't Willie Rushton occasionally pop up as a Roman god in "Up Pompeii"?
