    BBC NEWS:
BBC News - Virgin Media programme guide censorship hits glitch

Over recent days, subscribers to Virgin's TV and radio services have been offered the highlights of the "Manchester City v A***nal" game and "Jarvis C**ker's Sunday Service".

Meanwhile, movie lovers could tune into The 39 Steps, a "Hitchc**k remake".

I do hope there are no planned events, matches, or TV programmes set in Scunthorpe...

There was a movie site from the USA which had similar censorship. If you put in the name Hitchcock it would change it to "Hitchthingy"

I once posted a comment on another forum that mentioned Penistone Railway Station but it came out as Thingytone. I found that the trick is to put spaces between the offending letters.

Interesting that Virgin think there's a need to use a (rather basic) automated swearing filter. Who writes their programme guide? Liam Gallagher?

    Hi,
No wonder that they do not have a branch in my neighbouring town of Berkhamsted.

On another which forum I use, the shortened word for Pakistan is censored, so always reads ****stan when typed into a post. Its certainly political correctness gone mad when you cant even use the name of an actual country in your post.

    Hi,
I agree. Unless all this is done to gain attention/publicity.

It also means that I cannot refer to my cockney ancestry.

That's all it is really. It was fixed on the Virgin site even before the "news" report was made
