Oh dear, how sad. You'd better not watch it any more then
It is quite long, but many people put it at the top of their list of the best film ever made.

Gosford Park.

The Sound of Music, in particular the second half.

I can't agree with you there, Marky B, admittedly it does suffer from Janet Leigh's early demise, but boring?!

There are certain films I wouldn't want to see, The Excorcist being one of them, but I think your understanding of the term boring is interesting.

I agree.

I can kind of see what you are saying about the exocist as some scenes do seem to drag on, but I am always on the edge of my seat when watching psycho even though I know whats gonna happen

The book and/or the film are both great cures for insomnia

But I don't think I've ever managed to finish a book by Hemmingway. I find him to be the most turgid, plodding author who ever put pen to paper

Steve
I have to agree with Steve here - much as I adore Gary Cooper this was a dreadfully boring film...

I have never completed a Hemingway novel either

The MOST boring film I have ever had the misfortune to experience was Star Trek The Motion(less) Picture. This was EVEN worse than Wrath of Khan were they speak Klingon throughout most the film... as a prepubescent these were excrutiatingly tedious but mom was a trekkie... also found Star Wars overlong... and I would cheerfully smash both CP30 and R2D2 to pieces with their annoyingly cutesy 'banter'

I think because there was such a built up to The Exorcist being shown on television for the first time (on Channel 4),it was like as if it was an event. I watched it,and waited, and waited and waited, and waited until the end came and then I thought:"Was that it?" Likewise Psycho,it did nothing for me except for the music, which IMHO was the best thing about the film.

Each to their own, LL, each to their own.

Personally, I just wish he'd get a move on, nail the young stuff - if that's what he's after - and die. Quickly. And enough Mahler, already.

If you want pretty, static scenes of Venice - buy a travel book.

Still, I really love all the Star Trek movies. So therefore am a philistine.

Death In Venice is a beautifully photographed snooze fest.

I love the Star Trek films (unpretentious entertainment) but hate Star Wars films (pretentious old cobblers).

Hemingway books and films? More snoozing involved here I'm afraid, with the exception of The Sun Also Rises which has a great performance from Errol Flynn.

Other cures for insomnia - the collected works of Merchant/Ivory.

Another incredibly boring film is Lean's A Passage To India. A disappointing way for the great man to bow out.

Bats.

Agreed. Relieved only by incredulous sniggering at Alec Guinness's It Ain't Half Hot Mum black-face Indian routine...

I loved Gosford park! You really need to get the Sound of Music singalong version and..participate!... I think what this thread is demonstrating very well is that Brit movie members have a very diverse and contrasting taste in films! what one person finds boring another finds very exciting! interesting to see what folks like and dislike though.
