Default Britain v America

Is it only me or are there others that believe Britain has outperformed the mighty American's in film content & Quality over the years?
Most "blockbuster" Yank flicks have lost the plot when it comes to realistic storylines. They prefer the "blow it up" special effects to sell a film.Their audience target seems to be pre pubescent teenagers.(Leave your brains at home!)
Sure Brit films dont have the budgets to compete for big bucks but in most circumstances they produce the quality goods.
It seems Brit films are not considered for audiences in the States unless they have one or more well known American actors starring in it.
Pity because i also think Britain has the best actors too.
