Default Enjoyed a film but can't sit through it again

Have you ever watched a movie and really thoroughly enjoyed it, yet for some unexplained reason you find that whenever it’s on TV you are just not interested and cringe at the thought of having to sit through it again. If so what movies?

Or is it just me?

I feel that about several films .... The Italian Job, The Pink Panther and The Ladykillers are three that immediately spring to mind with Kind Hearts and Coronets in there as well.

There are probably an awful lot. I never watch the whole of a James Bond movie any more, even the ones with Sir Roger. I don't think I could sit through the whole of Independence Day again either, although it was fun the first time. I think for me it would apply to many films where spectacle outweighs script, I just get impatient waiting for the next big effect!

Blow something up..... NOW!

Yes Bats the Pink Panther movies are there too; I can remember going to the cinema to see them. Back then you saw two movies for the price of one and I enjoyed The Return of the PP and The Pink Panther Strikes Again so much I want back the next night and watched them again. But not been able to sit through them since.

Thanks Moor. I find that with the big blockbusters out today after we have been suckered by all the hype I never go back to them even with DVD.

I wouldn't be able to watch Breaking the Waves again. As much as I love the work of von Trier, I found this one quite heartbreaking and exhausting.

I feel the same about Dancer in the Dark. Brilliant film but you couldn't pay me to put myself through that again. See also United 93

Saving Private Ryan & Sophie's Choice.

Great, moving films but I couldn't watch them again.

Not British, but The Pianist was a brilliant film that I would find too gruelling to sit throught again.

You never found them entertaining then ? or maybe you did but only on the one viewing ? or is it just not repeatable material in your eyes ? What about the other Pink Panthers ?

Brilliant indeed, but the inevitability of it all is gruelling. I've watched it twice but it just got worse second time round!

The original question was about films you enjoyed watching but can't be bothered to/don't want to watch again.

I enjoyed them all, but don't feel any desire to watch them again.

Some of the the "Panther" sequels I have watched more than once because they are so daft you can't help liking them.

I think some films you can easily watch again and again, others if have really good twist at end it is never the same on second viewing. Some films can be so bad or silly endings you just would not watch again.D
