Hi Colin and welcome ... excuse my ignorance, but what's an MTB? I am guessing at 'motor torpedo boat'?

They featured heavily in the raid on St. Nazaire where they rammed the old HMS Campbeltown into the gates of the dry dock. And then blew her up! Gift Horse (1952) was loosely based on that raid. Attack on the Iron Coast (1968) told the story more accurately and there have been a few documentaries about it as well. MTBs were also involved in the Dunkirk evacuation and in D-Day of course. Thanks Penfold, I had a gander at the IWN online but they had just still pictures and no movies. I did come across from imdb a film about PT boats called 'They Were Expendable ' (1945) Directed by John Ford. I would have thought that this sort of subject, a small crew serving side by side under extreme circumstances would have been the ideal subject for a British film.
Thanks steve for those 2 titles Amazon has Attack on the Iron Coast . I apreciate the help guys. Last edited by Colin Armstrong; 27-04-2008 at 07:47 PM. Reason: Thank someone |
