Default Best title sequences

i watched " die screaming marrianne " last night . what a load of rubbish ! however the title sequences involving susan george go go dancing in a bikini were a bit of an improvement on the rest of the film ! the little bit of commentary i listened to said something like " these are the best title sequences ever "are they ! perhaps from a titilation point of view on a pete walker exploitation film perhaps .what other films had great title sequences ?

Best titles sequence for a TV show, combining music and images, is possibly The Baron.

Best title sequence for a film for me is Grand Prix followed by Lawrence of Arabia. Both of these though signalled the beginning of great films.

Most of the Bond films, title sequences designed and filmed by Maurice Binder.

King of the title sequence must be Saul Bass. He designed and supervised the opening titles for many Hitchcock films, "Vertigo", "North by North West" and "Psycho". There is an opinion that Saul Bass gave Hitchcock a great deal of assistance and advice on the shower murder sequence, particularly the use of the zoom in of the still image of the dead Janet Leigh. He even worked with Scorsese and designed and filmed the superb opening titles for "Casino"

I liked the title sequences to The Vikings. Orson Welles narrating over

scenes from the Bayeux tapestry!

Saul Bass also did the title sequence for Grand Prix.

For the best end credits Saul Bass's West Side Story is at the very top

as is

The title scenes for the first two Sergio Leone dollar films are very inventive.

In the first you get animated re-creations of scenes from the film (subsequently ripped-off in numerous other spaghettis) with all of the gunfights and shootings occuring several times to the accompanyment of gunshots.

In the second the various credits get blown away by off-screen gunfire and the Leone director credit gets shot to pieces a letter at a time.

I would marry the new series Doctor Who title sequence if the laws of this country weren't so backward...

Following Joan as she grows up with the titles written on things like a blackboard, a milk float, the factory gates

opening credits to 'Saturday night and Sunday morning'.

187, 188, one hundred and eighty bloody nine..........then followed by Arthur Seaton's own take on life which ends with............'I'm out for a good time, the rest is propoganda'. Brilliantly narrated by Albert Finney with background music from John Dankworth.

YouTube - The Baron Theme

I also like ...

YouTube - Enter The Dragon opening titles and music

YouTube - Bullitt (1968) - Opening credits

YouTube - THE CHASE [1966 TRAILER]

I couldn't find the titles for The Chase (which are superb) so the trailer will have to do.
