Brokeback Mountain.
Beautifully photographed, an interesting story about male friendship. I just couldn't see any reason for, or the point of "the act" which was more like a drunken rape than an act of love. I think it would have worked equally well without it - but would it have been as popular without the shock value and the publicity that generated? Steve |

My wife and most of my female friends thought it a very tragic and moving love story. I think Ang Lee dealt really well with the sensitive issue of homosexuality in the sixties and the way the two men handled an often spirited relationship during their brief encounters. It was the progression of their relationship that was more appealing I think. |
