Default Best Film Stunts Ever

Just been thinking what stunts impressed me most, but there are so many great ones, does anyone now find the computerised age has taken a lot away.

Remember that some of the of the stunts were worked with unsafe methods particularly for animals.A case in point is the infamous Running Y used in films such as The Charge of The Light Brigade(1936)
There was also the stunt, cant remeber the film where rider and horse both dive off a cliff into a lake or river below.I think that the horse was killed by this.Obviously these are now banned. So maybe computerised action is safer.

Yes some stunts with animals were horrendous, I read that in certain films, actually think it was Charge of the Light Brigade , they tripped the horses with wire, horrible, we dont need that at all for realism do we. Glad its all stopped.

Or certainly any stunt that Harold Lloyd attempted.

Kane Richmond in Spy Smasher, stunt work beyond the call of duty, especially as he was also the leading man!

Not an abvious choice but there is a superb sequence of stunts in the extended chase scene in "What's Up, Doc"...

I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!

Scholes, that stunt is not as dangerous as it looks as there is a bridge beneath him which has been used in many movies.
To me - one of the best stuntmen ever is my late great friend PADDY RYAN whos Son is also a member of this forum. The photo below is from 'Ivanhoe' starring Robert Taylor and at that time was the highest jump ever in a movie

The photo below is from 'Prize of Gold' starring Richard Widmark and Nigel Patrick and here PADDY is falling into the Pool of London. Joan Regan had a hit record with 'A Prize of Gold' from the film.

PADDY -- - R.I.P.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

Butch Cassidy: Then you jump first.
Sundance Kid: No, I said.
Butch Cassidy: What’s the matter with you?
Sundance Kid: I can’t swim.
Butch Cassidy: Are you crazy? The fall will probably kill you.

Even though Newman and Reford’s stuntmen did the river jump off of a construction crane at the studio’s Century Ranch by Century Lake it is still a memorable stunt. The crane was obscured by a matte painting of the cliffs.
