From the March 2000 NFT programme when they had a P&P season there. It was just after they'd done a new print of AMOLAD so they showed that quite a lot, and I saw it just about every time they showed it

Kathleen came along to talk about and introduce Black Narcissus.

They also showed a load of Powell's early films (mainly Quota Quickies) with an introduction to each one and a discussion about them afterwards. It was a month full of P&P, lovely

Various members of this forum (who are also members of the PaPAS group were also there.

I've been looking for a good piece of ephemera of this shoot when she bursts through the doors for ages - I was told it may be present on one of the Italian photobustas but I have yet to see the complete set.

I actually joined the PaPAS group ages ago, just have not looked in yet as time has been so short for the last few years, I have more time now - will pop in and say hello soon.

There are some good 10x8 B&W stills of that scene and a few people have done full colour screen grabs. It is an iconic image

I've never seen it on anything like lobby cards, photobustas or anything like that. I think it might be too much of a spoiler.

There's a nice little documentary that Kathleen did for the BBC. It was in their "10x10" series of 10 documentaries, each being 10 minutes long. This one is directed by Malcolm Venville and is called Remembering Sister Ruth. She looks back at that role, describing what she did and then trying to explain why it didn't make her a superstar.

I'd say the most iconic thing about this movie is the music - Vangelis is a great composer of film soundtracks

Agreed. It would be nice to have the music to accompany that scene - or, in fact, the entire opening credit sequence.

Bravo Sir Olly! Thanks

One of the truly great scenes in British film.

And just in time to enjoy with my lunch break here.

Ah! The West Sands! The spire of St Salvator's Chapel! The dome of Hamilton Hall (where I once successfully gatecrashed the ball)!
