Default Films you didnt think deserved the credit

I recently had the misfortune of watching La Vie En Rose, the biopic of Edith Piaf which IMHO was truly awful. BUT I am clearly in a very small minority since it got ecstatic reviews and its star was Oscar nominated. I wonder therefore which highly-rated films other members thoroughly disliked.

Up the Junction, hated it. and very overrated The Full Monty, ok had a few giggled in there but not a blockbuster in my opinion.

The Exorsist! Flatly written and directed with cardboard characters.

The LotR trilogy, bored me senseless and the nerdy fan infatuation pushes me over the edge.

Also most Tom Hanks films.

Well there are films that seem highly regarded by the cinema going public and of those I would cite Richard Curtis films such as Notting Hill and Love Actually which I loathe. Of films that are highly regarded by the critics I would cite the films of Derek Jarmen and Peter Greenaway which I detest in equal measure.

I didnt like,"Fish Called Wanda." at all and I am a huge fan of Michael Paliin and John Cleese.
Disliked the Indiana Jones films as well.
"Citizen Kane." grated on me when I saw it on video in 1995, this may have something to do with the fact that I had the flue. I am sure that the character played by Joseph Cotten iritiated me. I am thinking of giving it another go, because I am going through an Orson Welles faze. Fascinating man his filmography is large but I am aware of the fact that he made a lot of dross.

However, my favourite Orson Welles peformance is the classic Domecq sherry commercials and his voice over for Carlsburg"Probably the best lager in the world."

Sorry to r disagree with the master but I thikg it is one of the worst, tastes like a mixture of cats pee and rancid butter.

Can't comment on the Sherry I was always a Harveys Bristol cream man.

I like a Carlsberg myself, each to their own tipple though. Here's a trivia question, which hollywood actor took over from Orson Welles when he passed away, voicing the Carlsberg adds? (and it wasn't John Mills or Harry Andrews )

You were lucky to see it on TV, at least you had the option of switching it off! I was dragged to the cinema to see it and had to endure it to the end! Torture!

I think Donna and Batman maybe missing something when it comes to the first "Star Wars", whichn is essentially John Ford's "The Searchers" re-made is space for a younger audience. As for Donna's dislike of most army films, have you watched "Tunes Of Glory". As for my pet hate it's films of TV Series, can't think of one I've liked. Maybe someone will prove me wrong ?
