Russell T Davies deserves a Dukedom rather than a measly OBE.

Nothing for Roger De Caucy

No Order of Merit for Tarby

Always thought they were a bit of a joke and admire those who turn them down.

Though often the ones who turn them down accept a more important one later (*cough* Dame Helen Mirren)

Seriously....an OBE for John Surtees?? Where the hell is his knighthood??!! Three IOM Senior TT wins on the trot?? Can-Am car racing Champion?? World Champion on Grand Prix Motorbikes and then in Formula One??!! Never done before and unlikely to ever happen again?? Retires from racing and sets up his own pretty successful team?? Blameless life in retirement acting as ambassador to the motorcycling world, restoring prime examples of British engineering, and he only gets an OBE??? Much as I admire Victoria Wood et al, Surtees has done far more for the country and for far less reward, I bet...

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

Default Missed out again......scandalous!!

The honours thing is a disgrace. Although most of this list have had some honour I think they all deserve Knight or Damehoods for the years of wonderful entertainment they have given.

June Whitfield.
Ronnie Corbett.
Prunella Scales.
Timothy West.
Ken Dodd.

to name but a few........

Yes, I agree with the above list, particularly June!

Apparently Honor Blackman was going to recieve an honour (I'm unsure if it was OBE or something else), she refused it, which is as good as throwing back in our beloved Queen's face

If she didn't want it there's plenty of Thespians and Entertainers out there who would be extremely grateful of an honour!

If she doesn't agree with it, then she was being very honest.

Although, had it been me, I probably would have accepted it graciously (and been a hypocrite!).

Worse are those people who accept an award and then disparage it. Michael Parkinson is reported to have said that his will end up at Oxfam or something like.

Mrs Windsor might be loved by you, might even be loved by the majority, but please don't assume she is loved by everyone.

Good for Honor Blackman for standing up for her principles if her refusal is true.

I believe, but stand to be corrected, that Helen Mirren originally refused her proposed honour from a tory governtment as she was no supporter of that shower. Again, that seems principled to me.

Personally, I'd scrap the lot and in the somewhat unlikely scenario that I were to be offered one, sincerely hope I'd refuse.

All the best

A few people sent back their OBEs when The Beatles were awarded their MBEs.
John Lennon sent back his MBE in 1969, variously said to have been in protest of Britain's involvement in Biafra, Britain's continuing support of the Vietnam war, and the mindless banning of his anti-drug song 'Cold Turkey' due to drug references. All the others kept their MBEs.

Paul McCartney later accepted a knighthood of course.

So three out of four Liverpudlians seem to approve. Well, out of those four certainly

I don't mind people sending them back, but what I do object to is people craving honours and receiving them through corrupt means. This makes a mockery of the system and devalues honours willingly given to deserving people who are not in the public eye.

Sir Mark Thatcher just makes me think that all knights that went before him way back to Sir Galahad, were equally nothing but a bunch of freeloading, loathesome, despicable ne'er do wells who deserve no respect whatsover! If there was any justice at all he'd still be rotting in an African prison for financing a planned coup d'etat, instead of resorting to bribery to escape his punishment!
