Default Stage Fright

Last night I watched Stage Fright for the first time.

(*Spoiler alert*)

.

I though the false flashback was brilliant!

Although I'm also a big fan of The Ususal Suspect so that sort of thing appeals to me.

I don't understand why this film isn't rated a bit higher in the Hitchcock catalogue.

But then again, I felt Jane Wyman was a bit miscast. She just couldn't drop that American accent completely and it kept listing all over the place like a drunken sailor.

Alastair Sim was fab!

Any thoughts?

It almost a throwback to his 30s films as a slightly comic thriller. You can tell James Bridie had a hand in the dialogue. It was disliked at the time because it was felt it didn't play fair.

That's the joke that killed the Music Hall

Have to agree this for some reason is probably the most underated of Hitchcock's films.
